By September 2025, Gorakhpur will become India's first city-cum-learning hub for integrated waste management.
Every day, 700 tonnes of dry and wet waste will be processed at the 40-acre campus to produce bio-CNG and charcoal.
Gorakhpur and eight surrounding districts will also be served by a hazardous waste plant.
The plant will be spread over 40 acres at Suthani village in Sahjanwa.
It is anticipated that the project will generate income, generate employment and act as a centre for technical expertise education.
Biomedical, e-waste, batteries, tyres, terracotta, car scrap, plastic, household hazardous, industrial and organic waste are some of the many types of waste that the centre will manage.
