Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket

  • Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from Test cricket.
  • Kohli's Test career ended with 123 matches, 9230 runs, 30 centuries and 31 fifties.
  • Kohli led the team to 40 wins in 68 Tests, making him India's most successful men's Test captain by number of wins.
  • His 30 Test centuries rank him behind only Tendulkar, Dravid and Gavaskar among Indian batsmen, and his seven double centuries are unmatched in Indian cricket.
  • Kohli also holds the record for most Test centuries (20) by an Indian captain, well ahead of Gavaskar's 11.
  • He made his Test debut against the West Indies in 2011 and scored his first Test century (116) at Adelaide in Australia the same year.
