Tenure of Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of the tenure of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agarwal till June 30, 2026.
The re-employment will be on contract from July 1, 2025, under the usual terms and conditions for re-employed officers.
Aggarwal, a 1988 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, took over on July 1, 2024, with effect from September 30, 2024, his superannuation date.
The earlier contractual tenure up to June 30, 2025 had already been approved and has now been extended by another year.
Aggarwal replaced Nitin Gupta in June 2024, and brings with him extensive administrative experience to the post.
