World Zoonosis Day,2025

  • World Zoonosis Day is observed every year on 6 July to raise awareness about zoonotic diseases.
  • The day commemorates the successful development of the first vaccine against a zoonotic disease.


  • French biologist Louis Pasteur successfully developed the first vaccine against the rabies virus on 6 July 1885.
  • Zoonosis are infectious diseases that spread from animals to humans through direct contact with infected animals. These may be caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites.
