On July 14, Yakten village in Pakyong district of Sikkim has been declared as India’s first digital nomad village under the ‘Nomad Sikkim’ initiative.
It was inaugurated by MLA and Women, Child, Senior Citizens and Disabled Welfare Department Advisor Pamina Lepcha.
It is a step towards creating a sustainable, community-driven destination for digital nomads from across the country and the world.
The project is a joint effort of the Pakyong district administration and NGO Sarvhitey, which aims to turn scenic spots into year-round workplaces for digital workers.
