RBI's new executive director

• Sonali Sen Gupta has assumed charge as Executive Director (ED) at the RBI with effect from October 9, 2025.
• Prior to this, she was the Regional Director for Karnataka at the RBI's Bangalore office.

• Her promotion follows the appointment of Shirish Chandra Murmu as Deputy Governor.
• As Executive Director, she will oversee the Department of Consumer Education and Protection.
• She will also head the Department of Financial Inclusion and Development as well as the Department of Inspection.

• Sanjay Kumar Hansda returned to the RBI with effect from October 6, 2025.
