In 1926, the Hilton Young Commission recommended the setting up of the Reserve Bank of India. At that time, the authorized capital of the Reserve Bank of India was Rs. 5 crores. Reserve Bank of India was established on 1 April 1935 in accordance with the provisions of the RBI Act, 1934. The central office of the RBI was initially established in Calcutta but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. It regulates the credit and currency system in India.

निर्देश (प्रश्न संख्या 118 से 142 तक) : निम्नलिखित अपठित गद्यांशों को ध्यानपूर्वक पढि़ए और दिए गए प्रश्नों के सही विकल्प चुनकर उत्तर-पत्रक में चिह्नित कीजिए। श्रद्धा एक सामाजिक भाव है, इससे अपनी श्रद्धा के बदले में हम श्रद्धेय से अपने लिए कोई बात नहीं चाहते। श्रद्धा धारण करते हुए हम अपने को उस समाज में समझते हैं जिसके किसी अंश पर - चाहे हम व्यष्टि रूप में उसके अन्तर्गत न भी हों- जानबूझकर उसने कोई शुभ प्रभाव डाला। श्रद्धा स्वयं ऐसे कामों के प्रतिकार में होती है, जिनका शुभ प्रभाव अकेले हम पर नहीं बल्कि सारे मनुष्य समाज पर पड़ सकता है। श्रद्धा एक ऐसी आनन्दपूर्ण कृतज्ञता है जिसे हम केवल समाज के प्रतिनिधि रूप में प्रकट करते हैं। सदाचार पर श्रद्धा और अत्याचार पर क्रोध या घृणा प्रकट करने के लिए समाज ने प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को प्रतिनिधित्व प्रदान कर रखा है। यह काम उसने इतना भारी समझा है कि उसका भार सारे मनुष्यों को बाँट दिया है, दो-चार माननीय लोगों के ही सिर पर नहीं छोड़ रखा है। जिस समाज में सदाचार पर श्रद्धा और अत्याचार पर क्रोध प्रकट करने के लिए जितने ही अधिक लोग तत्पर पाए जाएँगे, उतना ही वह समाज जाग्रत समझा जाएगा। श्रद्धा की सामाजिक विशेषता एक इसी बात से समझ लीजिए कि जिस पर श्रद्धा रखते हैं उस पर चाहते हैं कि और लोग भी श्रद्धा रखें पर जिस पर हमारा प्रेम होता है उससे और दस-पाँच आदमी प्रेम रखें इसकी हमें परवाह क्या, इच्छा ही नहीं होती, क्योंकि हम प्रिय पर लोभवश एक प्रकार का अनन्य अधिकार चाहते हैं। श्रद्धालु अपने भाव से संसार को भी सम्मिलित करना चाहते हैं पर प्रेमी नहीं। श्रद्धा और प्रेम में क्या अंतर है?
