Kirsty Coventry

  • Kirsty Coventry made history by becoming the first woman to lead the International Olympic Committee.
  • She is also the first African to hold the position.


  • Her coronation took place on 23 June 2025, the 131st anniversary of the IOC.
  • Coventry is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming for Zimbabwe.
  • She was elected in March 2025. She won against six other candidates in a competitive race.


  • Her term will last for eight years. This includes overseeing the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
