Indian hockey team's experienced forward Lalit Upadhyay has announced his retirement from international hockey on 22 June 2025 after a 4-3 win against Belgium in the FIH Pro League.

Two Olympic medals: Lalit Upadhyay was part of the historic journey of the Indian hockey team, which won bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics. This is one of the biggest achievements of his career.
Long career: He made his international hockey debut in the World Cup in 2014 and performed brilliantly for the Indian team for more than a decade.
Achievements: Lalit played 183 matches for India and scored 67 goals. He was also part of the Indian team that finished third in the FIH Pro League 2021-22 and the gold medal-winning team at the 2022 Asian Games.
Honours: He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2021 in recognition of his incomparable contribution to Indian hockey.
Last match: He played his last match for the Indian team on June 15 against Australia.
